Stop playing the Victim Card – Will you?

If you want to achieve something remarkable in life than work really hard towards it and simply let your work speak. The world should recognize you by your work and nothing else. Let your work be evaluated solely based on your performance rather than your unfortunate past. You may have been a victim of any of the circumstances that you encountered during the journey of your life, but don’t ever try to cash on your past or for that reason let anyone else take advantage of the same.

Nowadays, if we look around, then we will realize that present marketing world likes to cash a lot on the victim card. Just watch any of the reality shows being telecast on Television/Internet and you will come to know that how the victim card is being overly used in the marketing world. And this is not only restricted to the reel world, but the real world is equally infected with such kind of publicity tactics, wherein someone’s unfortunate past is used as a means to publicize their work.

I do agree that in spite of being a victim, you came out as a winner or a survivor. And for that reason, your life is definitely a motivation for millions of us and indeed we do respect your courage and attitude. But still, it doesn’t mean that your work should always have a layer of your unfortunate past, for it to get noticed. Your personality and your good work are enough a reason for the world to recognize your talent. So just stop playing the victim card, every now and then.

On the one hand, you don’t want the sympathies of others, while, on the other hand, when it comes to marketing your work, you don’t even hesitate for a second before playing your victim card. Isn’t this a sheer case of double standards? Isn’t all such acts equivalent to cheap publicity? If you believe that you have worked really hard then do note that you certainly don’t need such emotional marketing strategies to grab the attention of others.

Do mind that true professionals will never let anything else supersede their work. Did you ever see a successful person talking about their difficult past, about their struggles or about the unfortunate events of their life, every time before showcasing their work or their talent? No, they don’t talk about all such things before walking out in the playground; rather they just let their bat hit the home run. But yes, they do talk about all these things in their autobiography, in motivational speeches or when they are asked about it. And that is how it should be like.

I do hope that henceforth we will maintain our dignity and not play the victim card just for seeking attention. I mean most of us in order to achieve something in our life have to pass all the tests that life throws towards us. So everyone deserves their work to be treated and evaluated at par, rather than someone getting a biased decision based on their emotional appeals. Let the good work win the race.

I wish that the Almighty give enough strength to each one of us for overcoming all the odds in our life and grant us with good sense. Do take a very good care of yourself and stay safe always.

Be in touch.

God Bless you all!

Does your past haunt you every now and then?

Does it happen with you, that your own ‘Past’, time and again, starts banging harshly on your door, in spite of the fact that you have hanged a nameplate showcasing in bold letters the word ‘PEACE’? If your answer to the above question is in affirmative, then no wonder the title of this blog caught your attention and you made a painful attempt to bear with this blog. Nevertheless, if your Past drops in as an uninvited guest, then no need to worry about, because in that case, you are sailing in the same boat in which we all are your co-passengers. Yes, it does happen with each one of us. Our past, all of a sudden, appears in front of us, like a gangster demanding the ‘well-deserved ransom’, on account of permitting us to inhale our next intake of oxygen. Note: Only the negative past is referred to as ‘Gangster’ in this blog. The positive past is indeed an ‘Angel’.

So are you scared of your past? Do you feel depressed because of the past thoughts overpowering your mind? Do you feel helpless at all such times? Do you think of running away from this gangster, in a way, never to be located again? Does this thought ever come to your mind that is there any way out to deal with this gangster? Isn’t there any solution by which we can overcome and ‘Let Go’ our past? As I said that we all are co-passengers, so let us sail together in this journey of the blog and try to find out the answers to all such questions that are stalking our mind since ages.

I tell you this gangster named as ‘Past’ is a shameless fellow; the more one tries to drag it away, the more it will come closer and closer. As a gangster enjoys seeing the people around it as its slave, in the same way, our Past Aka Gangster enjoys ruling over our thoughts. It surely rejoices at our helplessness and pity on our sorrowful condition. Sometimes, I think whether the intention of this gangster behind following us everywhere is to click endless selfies with us or what. Gosh, how can one be so selfies oops selfish with anyone?

I think till now, I am able to successfully portray the picture of ‘Negative Past’ as a ‘Cruel Gangster’ in your mind. Now, the very reason behind addressing this negative past as a ‘Gangster’ is to find out the answers to the countless questions that strike our mind, as and when we encounter our past. Yes, the solution to overcome and let go our negative past lies in the word Gangster. If, while tackling our negative past, we apply the modus operandi of dealing with a real gangster, then it will surely help us in overcoming our past too.

The best way to deal with this gangster is defined in a sequential manner below –

  1. Firstly, stop getting scared from the gangster. As soon as, we gain the confidence in us that we can face this gangster named The Past, we will be able to challenge it with utmost strength. This is the first step towards our ultimate aim of eliminating any sort of negativity from our life.
  1. Once we have the confidence to deal with it, the next step is to make our mind ready for accepting our mistakes and embracing the findings from analysing our past. We have to prepare ourselves that we are going to take things in the right sense and conclude the incidences from our past to a logical end, once for all.
  1. Now, it’s the time for some real action i.e. the right time to face the gangster, on a one to one basis. In this step, we need to sort out every minute thing and the only prerequisite for achieving this is a peaceful mind. We need to question ourselves for the failed relationships, failed attempts, why others are behaving with us in that manner, what is stopping us from getting over our past, all in all, find answers to every such past thing which is a cause of mental disturbance in our present life. We need to question our past with the sole aim of finding the answers to questions like what went wrong, what were our mistakes, what are the learning’s, etcetera.
  1. Mind it, the above step number 3 is not meant to start sobbing upon our past, rather, it is meant to get over our past thoughts which are haunting us, every now and then. In the above step, we need to find the answers to all our queries that are affecting our present, on account of the happenings in our past. We need to search for ‘Our Answers’ to our past events that appear, time and again, in front of us. Do remember that these are our answers, and as such, they should not be influenced by anyone else’s thoughts, actions, etcetera.
  1. We need to continue step number 3 and carry on our wrestle with this gangster until the time we are satisfied with our own answers. Till we find satisfactory answers, against the turmoil of thoughts unsettling our mind, this exercise will not end. Once we are satisfied with our answers, “after an unbiased analysis of our past”, we would be able to accept our past and get over our negative thoughts.

Trust me if you deal with this gangster in the above-mentioned way, it would never haunt you again in your life. Do remember, that like a real gangster, our past also doesn’t like anyone standing against it. If we rise against our past, then, slowly and gradually, the past will start disliking us and would one fine day dump us to live on our own. As the time passes, it will vanish from our memories and leave behind only the learning’s for us to embrace. Thus, we will be able to get over with our past events and the only thoughts which will remain in our mind will be the thoughts pertaining to the moments to cherish and the moments to learn from.

I hope you agree with me that there is nothing wrong in at least giving it a try. Let’s see, if we are able to be a good host the very next time our past knocks on our door. Now it’s solely your choice whether or not you want to give it a try because till the time one gets even with their past and settle scores, it is going to haunt them, time and again, and they will end up staying in their past forever.

I wish you all that you are able to get over the past negative thoughts that are ruining your beautiful present. God Bless you all!

Is it worth to analyze our past?

First of all, let me wish you all a very Happy and a Prosperous New Year. It’s a yearly custom that we welcome the New Year and leaves past the old year, in our memories to be remembered, “at our ease”. Well, everything that goes away leaves behind memories to remember and cherish. I deliberately choose to mention ‘cherish’ because we don’t gain anything by sobbing over things that had already faded up. Ek he zindai hai, usey hans ke guzar lo, agar rona he hai, toh khushi ke ansun baha lo” (“There is only one life, live it happily my boy; if at all you need to cry, then let those tears be the tears of joy”).

I want to take this opportunity to pierce one of my thoughts in your pre-occupied mind, so kindly let me penetrate inside the web of your intelligent thoughts. I hope this write-up will benefit you, in some way or the other. So be ready to experience a voyage of enlightenment. There is absolutely nothing to lose, so no harm in travelling and gaining the experience of this ‘free’ tour. Make sure that before starting the trip, you leave aside all the preconceived notions and just let yourself flow with the wind.

Every year, at this time, we all think that how fast the last year had passed away (Jaisey kal he baat thi). But, tell me seriously how many of us, sit peacefully and analyze how our last year departed? What are the takeaway and things to learn from our past? How can we get better in our future? Very few of us do that analysis, right? Why can’t we be one of those few, who dig their past for a better future and thereby contribute towards a better world altogether? Although, it is said that “Leave the past and live in present” but “Being Human” we got to learn from our past. Don’t you agree with me?

So, if you agree and are ready for the expedition, then you got to turn the pages of your autobiography and look around what impacted you during the past 365/366 days. You got to analyze each and every little incidence that left an indelible mark in your life or maybe because of you in someone else’s life too. This sounds good, isn’t it? However, the questions that pop up in our mind are whether this is at all feasible? If yes, then by what means we can travel into our past?

The answer to these questions is quite simple. Till the time, anyone invents the ‘Time Machine’ our ‘Mind’ is the only machine which can possibly take us anywhere. Hence, we got to utilize this ‘free of charge’ machine to travel distances, time, places etc. The only prerequisite to using this machine is ‘Peace’. A peaceful mind is the greatest weapon that anyone can possess. We can reach miles with a peaceful mind. So, we know the mechanism to start our remarkable journey from present to the past. Now, the fuel for this journey is the thought that “We are on this trip only to analyze our life”. We got to fill the machine with this fuel and start the engine. This thought will remind us, time and again, the reason for our trip and will stop us from getting distracted by the bad or sad things, which we will surely come across when we travel the length and breadth of our past life.

Hence, here we are with a peaceful mind, travelling into the world which we had already passed, way back. We got to concentrate now (keeping the above thought in our mind) and start identifying the incidences, one by one. The incidences may vary from having a bed tea on a lazy Sunday morning, our country winning a sport competition, an interesting date with an interesting person, the achievement/failures in our endeavor, a fight with a loved one, a loss of someone special in our life; it could also be any recent controversy in the political/social front or even the thought that which blog of mine was better etcetera. Now, from all these incidences we got to select those which impacted our life in a real sense.

Once we have identified the incidences which impacted us the most, we reach the final stage of our trip. In this stage, we got to analyze the incidences, with the objective to find out the root cause and the solutions thereof. This exercise will not only open up our perspective to deal with adverse situations but also help us in tackling with such incidences if we once again encounter them in the future. Once we are done with analyzing our entire past year (or the time we set for introspection), we can end our journey and jot down the summary of our experience, as well as, take away from this journey.

After this fruitful exercise, I am sure you will be more relaxed and in more peace. I hope you will enjoy the path, as well as, the destination. This is worth trying, indeed a lifetime experience. Well those of you who still think that I have gone mad, I accept that compliment with a smile.

Let us all embrace the prosperous and warm dawn of a New Year with a big smile. The life is beautiful so enjoy it to the fullest, “Kya pata kal ho na ho”. I wish that this New Year brings with it the utmost happiness, peace, and prosperity in everyone’s life.

God Bless! Be in touch.
