Corporate Donations to Indian National Political Parties without mentioning PAN and Address – Ah! The obvious needs no evidence

A news article on Corporate Donations to Indian National Political Parties was published, on dated 18th August 2017, in Rajasthan Patrika (Hindi Daily newspaper). This article talked about the report of The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Corporate Donations above Rs. 20,000/- to National Political Parties, during the Financial Year (F.Y.) 2012-13 to 2015-16. Note: One of the National Party, i.e. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has not been considered for analysis in this report, as the party has declared that it hasn’t received any voluntary contributions above Rs 20,000 from any donor during the F.Y. 2012-13 to 2015-16.

As per the ADR report, the National Political Parties accepted donations worth Rs. 419.78 crores from 1355 Corporate Donors who didn’t even provide the details about their Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Address. Further, out of the total Corporate Donations, without PAN and Address ‘both’, i.e. Rs. 159.67 crore, almost 99.95% i.e. Rs. 159.59 crores were accepted by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) i.e. the ruling government, as on date. After reading all this, the very first thought that came to my mind was “Ah! The obvious needs no evidence”.

Is it even believable that 43.87% of total Corporate Donations received by the National Political Parties don’t have the details about PAN and Address of the corporate donors? And mind it here we are only talking about the Corporate Donations above Rs. 20,000/-. So, you can just imagine about the sources of donations received up to Rs. 20,000/-, from other than corporate donors.

Doesn’t this report speak for itself? In fact, this report very aptly shows the real face of our political system. Most of the politicians are shameless and don’t believe in practicing what they preach about in public. Isn’t it a matter of shame for all Jumla (Empty Promise) King’s, who just believe in making false promises and playing with the emotions of the innocent citizens of the nation? And when their words are proved wrong, they very shamefully, divert the matter by referring it, as just a Jumla.

Ever thought that why do all such things happen in our nation? Who is responsible for all these things? Trust me, all this simply happen because we the common citizens forget the deeds of these politicians and vote them every time to rule over us and take advantage of our innocence. Now it is a high time for each one of us to think about it and ask ourselves that for how long we intend to continue like this.

Na Khaunga, Na Khaney Dunga (I will not engage in corruption myself, nor let others do it too). Although this is a very bold statement to be made by any politician, especially with reference to corruption and bribe, however, after enough of such evidence, I am very consciously addressing it as yet another Jumla of our Pradhan Sevak. Mr. Narendra Damodar Modi, by any chance, do you recall these words which once came out of your sacred mouth? I hope you don’t remember them (of which there is a very high probability), like any other Jumla’s of yours, that you pronounce time and again, in the heat of the moment I guess. Now, what would you like to say on your party funds from unknown sources? Ready with yet another Jumla to mislead the citizens?

The obvious needs no evidence. Once again the ADR’s report has proved that majority of these politicians neither follows the Supreme Court’s orders nor believes in practicing what they themselves preach about. Hence, it is my earnest request to each one of such corrupt politicians that please leave us alone and stop playing with the emotions of the common people. You have fooled us for long and now it is enough. Your only motto is to grow your personal wealth, as well as, the party funds. So just stop preaching us about corruption and black money. First, set an example before the citizens and then come to us with emotional mass appeals of giving up our subsidies and all. Enough is enough.
