Are you hunting for some motivation?

By any chance are you hunting for some motivation in the outside world? Thinking to get inspired from success stories of other persons? Wandering in search of that very stimulus which will ignite your life? Waiting for someone/something to pull you up from your current downtrodden situation? Seeking for some positive spark in your life? Hoping that one fine day you will get shaken up by the inspirational boosters and eventually your goals will be achieved? If the answer to any of these questions is in affirmative, then, fortunately, you have landed at the right place. In this blog let us try to locate the source of ‘real and everlasting’ motivation.

At the outset, I would like to comfort you by sharing the fact that if you are a motivation seeker then nothing to worry about because you are not sailing all alone in the boat. Indeed we all are hopping in the hunt for motivation, sometimes or the other. And, in fact, we always look outside for that dose of motivation. But did you ever think that is this exercise fruitful or not? Do we really get inspired by the outside world? And most importantly does this outside motivation have an everlasting impact on us or not?

We read inspiring stories, hear motivational audio, view the life changing videos, all in all, we go through every kind of motivational material that is accessible to us. The sole aim behind all this is to get inspired and thereby change our life into yet another success story. However, don’t you think that all this ultimately turns out to be a momentary motivation only? The impact of which lasts only for a few minutes, hours or maybe for a few days, and in reality, it actually fails to motivate us in the long run.

Herewith, let me make it very clear that I am not against any kind of motivational stuff; in fact, they are a great source of learning. However, my whole point is that all these motivational posts, quotes, stories, audio-video, etcetera, are good enough to boost our morale in that very moment or maybe for some more time, but they are not sufficient enough to leave an everlasting impact on our life. Hence, it’s a high time for us to diagnose the impact of outside motivation on our life. And if we find out that we are not getting much of the needed help from these momentary motivations, then we need to question ourselves that what is the alternative available for us to get motivated in the real sense?

Well, the answer to this life changing question is that we need to “Look within for inspiration”. It’s our own life story and it’s comparable to no one else’s life. Everyone has different struggles and a different way of tackling and overcoming them. We need to write our own success story and for that, we have to look within our own self for finding inspiration. There is no argument in the fact that we can take learning’s from other’s life and even get motivated from them. But the hard-core reality is that all these momentary motivations will eventually wipe-off, as soon as, the memory of that motivational thing is overpowered with other important or not-so-important things going on in our life. Hence, it’s only the motivation that emerges from within us, which is going to have an everlasting impact in our life and it is indeed the real motivation.

You may be down, you might have lost all the hopes, you are no more interested in your life, but do remember, that you are the same person who once used to crawl and then “on your own” learned to walk, as well as, run miles and miles. When on your own you can learn how to walk, even at the age when you have no life experiences, then what else could stop you from walking or running in the journey of your life?

Now every time you get disheartened, do remember that you need to get back to your inner-self and remind yourself about all those past incidences of your life in which you stood firmly against all the odds and finally came out as a winner to achieve your goals. And yes, there is no one on earth who has not achieved anything in their life. The achievements could be as small as learning to ride a vehicle, passing an exam, winning or even participating in a game and the list goes on and on. So the excuse that “I don’t have any achievements in my life” is a sheer crap. Hence, there is no point in hiding behind this excuse. So yes, “If you are hunting for some motivation, then do look within for inspiration”. Only then you will get motivated in a ‘real and an everlasting’ sense.

I do hope that now onwards you will find inspiration from within your own self and there will be a lot many success stories to share and learn from. I wish you all a very happy, motivated and a prosperous life.

Be in touch.

God Bless!

Does your past haunt you every now and then?

Does it happen with you, that your own ‘Past’, time and again, starts banging harshly on your door, in spite of the fact that you have hanged a nameplate showcasing in bold letters the word ‘PEACE’? If your answer to the above question is in affirmative, then no wonder the title of this blog caught your attention and you made a painful attempt to bear with this blog. Nevertheless, if your Past drops in as an uninvited guest, then no need to worry about, because in that case, you are sailing in the same boat in which we all are your co-passengers. Yes, it does happen with each one of us. Our past, all of a sudden, appears in front of us, like a gangster demanding the ‘well-deserved ransom’, on account of permitting us to inhale our next intake of oxygen. Note: Only the negative past is referred to as ‘Gangster’ in this blog. The positive past is indeed an ‘Angel’.

So are you scared of your past? Do you feel depressed because of the past thoughts overpowering your mind? Do you feel helpless at all such times? Do you think of running away from this gangster, in a way, never to be located again? Does this thought ever come to your mind that is there any way out to deal with this gangster? Isn’t there any solution by which we can overcome and ‘Let Go’ our past? As I said that we all are co-passengers, so let us sail together in this journey of the blog and try to find out the answers to all such questions that are stalking our mind since ages.

I tell you this gangster named as ‘Past’ is a shameless fellow; the more one tries to drag it away, the more it will come closer and closer. As a gangster enjoys seeing the people around it as its slave, in the same way, our Past Aka Gangster enjoys ruling over our thoughts. It surely rejoices at our helplessness and pity on our sorrowful condition. Sometimes, I think whether the intention of this gangster behind following us everywhere is to click endless selfies with us or what. Gosh, how can one be so selfies oops selfish with anyone?

I think till now, I am able to successfully portray the picture of ‘Negative Past’ as a ‘Cruel Gangster’ in your mind. Now, the very reason behind addressing this negative past as a ‘Gangster’ is to find out the answers to the countless questions that strike our mind, as and when we encounter our past. Yes, the solution to overcome and let go our negative past lies in the word Gangster. If, while tackling our negative past, we apply the modus operandi of dealing with a real gangster, then it will surely help us in overcoming our past too.

The best way to deal with this gangster is defined in a sequential manner below –

  1. Firstly, stop getting scared from the gangster. As soon as, we gain the confidence in us that we can face this gangster named The Past, we will be able to challenge it with utmost strength. This is the first step towards our ultimate aim of eliminating any sort of negativity from our life.
  1. Once we have the confidence to deal with it, the next step is to make our mind ready for accepting our mistakes and embracing the findings from analysing our past. We have to prepare ourselves that we are going to take things in the right sense and conclude the incidences from our past to a logical end, once for all.
  1. Now, it’s the time for some real action i.e. the right time to face the gangster, on a one to one basis. In this step, we need to sort out every minute thing and the only prerequisite for achieving this is a peaceful mind. We need to question ourselves for the failed relationships, failed attempts, why others are behaving with us in that manner, what is stopping us from getting over our past, all in all, find answers to every such past thing which is a cause of mental disturbance in our present life. We need to question our past with the sole aim of finding the answers to questions like what went wrong, what were our mistakes, what are the learning’s, etcetera.
  1. Mind it, the above step number 3 is not meant to start sobbing upon our past, rather, it is meant to get over our past thoughts which are haunting us, every now and then. In the above step, we need to find the answers to all our queries that are affecting our present, on account of the happenings in our past. We need to search for ‘Our Answers’ to our past events that appear, time and again, in front of us. Do remember that these are our answers, and as such, they should not be influenced by anyone else’s thoughts, actions, etcetera.
  1. We need to continue step number 3 and carry on our wrestle with this gangster until the time we are satisfied with our own answers. Till we find satisfactory answers, against the turmoil of thoughts unsettling our mind, this exercise will not end. Once we are satisfied with our answers, “after an unbiased analysis of our past”, we would be able to accept our past and get over our negative thoughts.

Trust me if you deal with this gangster in the above-mentioned way, it would never haunt you again in your life. Do remember, that like a real gangster, our past also doesn’t like anyone standing against it. If we rise against our past, then, slowly and gradually, the past will start disliking us and would one fine day dump us to live on our own. As the time passes, it will vanish from our memories and leave behind only the learning’s for us to embrace. Thus, we will be able to get over with our past events and the only thoughts which will remain in our mind will be the thoughts pertaining to the moments to cherish and the moments to learn from.

I hope you agree with me that there is nothing wrong in at least giving it a try. Let’s see, if we are able to be a good host the very next time our past knocks on our door. Now it’s solely your choice whether or not you want to give it a try because till the time one gets even with their past and settle scores, it is going to haunt them, time and again, and they will end up staying in their past forever.

I wish you all that you are able to get over the past negative thoughts that are ruining your beautiful present. God Bless you all!

Depression – A Clash of Actual vs. Expectation

Depression is defined as “A mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity”. (Courtesy: Word Web Dictionary). At the start of this blog, I would like to inform that I am not a doctor, researcher, or the subject matter expert. However, I have my eyes and ears open and could sense a lot of depressed soul in this world. So this blog is an attempt to share the thoughts about depression from a layman’s point of view. Hope my effort could instil life in the depressed souls.

As per my view, depression is the end result of “negative” thoughts that overpowers our mind. If we conduct a root cause analysis of depression, then we will reach on to the conclusion that there is only one factor that leads to the state of depression i.e. “Our inability to accept the actual result, as against our expectation”. Let us understand this by picking up some simple incidences from our routine life. Say for example, when we don’t score good grades in the exams, when we are not able to get something that we desire, like a good job, someone whom we love, etcetera then eventually we get depressed because the results were not as “expected” by us.

If we closely examine all the above-mentioned situations then we will realize that there is a clash of Actual vs. Expectation in our mind. Now, it will be prudent to mention here that all those who can accept the actual result, as it is, and take learning’s from the same, would never get trapped into the vicious circle of depression. However, those who can’t get over with their expectations and keep sticking to the negative thoughts that strike their mind will eventually sink into the mire of depression.

At times, we compare ourselves, our life, our achievement, all in all, each and everything with someone else. But at the same time, we forget to take into consideration all the pains/struggle with which the other person has gone through. We try to see only one side of the life of the person with whom we compare ourselves. What is the sheer point in comparing ourselves with someone else, when no one in the world is alike? By comparing ourselves with others we disgrace no one else but our own self.

We should keep in mind that to get depressed is a normal state of mind, so there is nothing unusual in that. Every living being gets depressed on non-fulfilment of their desires, on non-achievement of the results etcetera. However, what leads to the state of chronic depression “as a disease”, is when we can’t get over with that state of mind. Getting depressed should be a momentary state and one should know how to “divert” their mind and come out of that situation, as soon as possible. If we are able to get our mind and heart diverted then we can win over all the negative thoughts, at any point of time in our life.

When we are in a stable set of mind, it will be beneficial for us to introspect that are we ready to accept the results that come our way or not. If not, then it’s a high time we train our mind to be contented with what we achieve in this journey of life. Once a person gets into the state of depression it is very difficult to think about their inner self. The medicines become a part and parcel of the routine life and a depressed soul loose trust on almost everyone. So it’s better to test ourselves before it’s too late.

Just remember that no one in this world is happy. People who “stay” happy are the one who is contented with what they have. “Being contented is the art of accepting the results, against the expectations”. One who is contented will never get into the state of depression in life. However, being contented does not mean that one stops striving for excellence. Accepting the present, contenting with what one achieves and moving on for a better result in the future should be the motto of our life.

So guys win over the negative thoughts and live a peaceful, contented and happy life.

God Bless every soul!
